Graduation at The Wesley School is bittersweet. As we sat and listened to each and every 8th grade student give a short speech about his or her time here at Wesley, we were reminded of why it is we do what we do. To a person, they all thanked their parents, of course. But they also all expressed great appreciation for the faculty and how well prepared they feel to move on to high school. Sure, they acknowledged the strong academic preparation, but sometimes, even more so, it was that they feel confident, independent, socially and globally aware, and totally ready to move forward on their educational journey. They appreciated the ability to “grow up” in a safe, nurturing environment that helped them each develop to the point where they really feel ready to fly. We are so proud of them all!
They are moving on to a strong list of high schools that well represent the diversity among our students, from writers to scientists, musicians to athletes. The class of 2013 is matriculating to Archer, Buckley, Campbell Hall, CHAMPS, Crespi, Flintridge Prep, Loyola, Marlborough, Marymount, Notre Dame, Providence, Sidwell Friends, and Viewpoint.
We are also excited to share the list of colleges that students from the Wesley Class of 2009 will attend: Boston University, Cal Lutheran, CSUN, Fordham, Georgia Tech, Kenyon College, Lewis & Clark, NYU, Pierce College, Skidmore, Tufts, University of Alabama, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, University of Pennsylvania, and West Coast University.
Congratulations to all!
