The Toluca Lake Garden Club’s annual fundraiser is going big this year and everyone is invited to the party.
The event is an Afternoon Tea and Boutique at Lakeside Golf Club. It’s tea and a lot more.
The event will have the musical accompaniment of American Idol pianist Michael Orland. Featured speakers are florist-to-the-stars Mark Held of Mark’s Garden and Peggy Dark of The Kitchen, L.A.’s premier caterer. Their book, Fabulous Parties, shares their secrets of entertaining.
The boutique features the village’s favorite shops bringing in a few surprises as well as more irresistible goodies from other sellers.
The table service features a variety of tea sandwiches, strawberries and cream, scones, and pastries, plus optional libation.
There’s a raffle with hundreds of dollars worth of local gift certificates.
The big event is Sunday afternoon, April 15, from noon to 3:30 p.m. Seating is limited and tickets are $60 per person.
The Toluca Lake Garden Club was founded in 1947 with a mission to encourage interest in civic beauty.
100% of the proceeds from the tea will fulfill that mission with the planting of new trees and flowers.
Garden Club President Shirley Duenckel pitched ticket sales in her typically direct style: “We’re giving back to the community. Everybody who lives in the community will benefit, so everybody in the community should come.”
