Singer/songwriter Hayley Taylor might not be as well known as Sheryl Crow, Taylor Swift or Colbie Caillat, but she’s creating music as appealing and commercially viable as any of them. This instantly likable CD features 10 well-written original songs without any filler. Every song is a winner. If you enjoy harmony, strong melodies and thoughtful lyrics, One Foot In Front Of the Other will not disappoint.
Born in Michigan but raised locally, Taylor began performing at age three, making an auspicious national debut outfitted as Dolly Parton, roller skating and singing on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. Since then she’s racked up numerous artistic credits and awards including acting in TV and films and a recent Los Angeles Music Awards nomination for “Best Independent Album of the Year.” The exquisitely arranged tunes on One Foot feature Taylor’s plaintive and sugar-free vocals. Among the tasteful and seasoned players are guitarist Michael Chaves (John Mayer), cellist Adrienne Woods (Josh Radin, Jonas Brothers), and drummer Elliot Jacobson (Ingrid Michaelson).
The album’s title reflects Taylor’s philosophy of life.
“To me, it signifies taking life one day at a time and enjoying the journey,” she says.
