Mary Louise Wheeler passed away January 3, 2010 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. Services were held on Friday, January 8 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in North Hollywood, California. Reverend Monsignor Robert J. Gallagher presided.
Mary was born in Buffalo, New York on September 29, 1927, the youngest of four children, to Helen and Karl McCausland. She graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges with a Bachelor of Arts and moved to California where she married Keith Wheeler and made Los Angeles her home.
She was an active member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Campbell Hall Episcopal School, Marlborough School, The Partnership of Toluca Lake, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Guild, The Sisters of Social Service and Lakeside Golf Club. Throughout her life, Mary touched the lives of many people with her quick smile, positive attitude and warm generosity. She will be greatly missed by her devoted family and her many friends.
Mary is survived by her husband Keith, her children Katie Wheeler Mathews, Keith Michael Wheeler, Nancy Wheeler Balboa, her sons-in-law Alex Mathews and George Balboa, Jr., her grandchildren George, Nicholas and Charlotte Mary, her nephews Jack, Bill, Jim and Tom Vossler, and her loyal Wire Fox Terrier Andy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to The Sisters of Social Service (4316 Lanai Rd., Encino, CA 91436).
