Jimmy Angel Performs with the Jason Gutierrez Trio
Expect a dose of irresistibly frantic old school rock & roll when
former teen idol Jimmy Angel performs with the Jason Gutierrez Trio at Lucy’s 51 on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Preaching the big beat gospel non-stop for over five decades, Angel’s gone from Manhattan’s Copacabana and Peppermint Lounge through a fruitful late-1970s stint in Nashville, with innumerable stops in Hollywood and Tokyo (where he performed an average of six nights a week for more than 30 years).
Angel, who also appears every other Saturday at the Smoke House Restaurant, is the subject of a forthcoming documentary film, Teen Idol: Music, Mommy & the Mob, which details his longstanding alliance as protégé of infamous Mafioso Joe Colombo. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind, show-stopping entertainer.
