The Beverly Hills artSHOW to feature over 240 artists.

The Beverly Hills artSHOW celebrates its 40th Anniversary this weekend, May 17 & 18. The show again features over 240 artists along the famous garden stretch of Santa Monica Boulevard from Rodeo to Rexford Drive.

In honor of the Beverly Hills artSHOW’s 40th anniversary, traditionally represented by a ruby gemstone, the event will feature a deeply rosy theme.

Certain jewelry artists, glass makers, mixed media artists and painters, working with the stone or the color ruby, will be on hand; some have created work just for this event. Glass pioneer Donald Carlson, acclaimed maker of red glass artworks found in major collections around the country, internationally-known Elaine Hyde, one of the few female glass blowers in the field, and contemporary glass artist Scott Slagerman, producer of highly unusual glass shapes, will present their work.

Master jewelers will exhibit their ruby, rubellite, and garnet works. Jeweler Deidre Greene, working with both copper and ruby glass, has created necklaces and bracelets just for the event, and will show artists her technique.

The one-hundred-year old Lily Pond has been restored; it’s at the show’s center and in the centermost block of one-hundred-year old Beverly Gardens Park. Artists adept at rendering that elusive material, water, will be gathered around the pond demonstrating their abilities and their work throughout this artSHOW weekend.

This free, drop-in event is held in the garden heart of Beverly Hills. Easy parking is available just south of the show in several city parking structures. Over 240 artists, casual cuisine, libations in the wine and beer gardens, family art projects, and more are featured on May 17-18, 2014.
