CTC started over 10 years ago when its founder, Zane Wilemon, purchased a one-way ticket to Kenya, a decision that would forever change his life. It was during that first year of living in Kenya that the local communities showed Zane a different way to live: a life where relationships are the priority, living simply and recognizing our interdependent natures are valued. At the heart of CTC’s work is the philosophy known as UBUNTU which means, “I am because we are.” It reflects the values that Zane learned from the people in Kenya, and how our lives are bound to one another. It is by empowering others that we too are empowered.

This core value of empowerment can most visibly be seen in CTC’s recently launched fashion brand known as the L.I.F.E. Line. The L.I.F.E. Line started with a group of nine mothers, shunned by society because they had children with special needs. In the past 3 years the L.I.F.E. Line has grown from employing nine women to over 400, and revenue from product sales has increased by over 2,000% and can be found in any of your local Whole Foods Markets.
