Music Lessons for Life

By Anthony Cross

Students enjoy learning at Oksana School of Music.

Listen up! Have you always wished you could play an instrument? Did you used to play and want to give it another try? Oksana School of Music can lend an ear and their expertise. Located in Burbank, with six of the best-specialized teachers in the area, this school is geared and tuned to help bring out what’s always been inside you. What sets them apart from the rest is their main goal: for you to have a great time and want to come back. And that’s exactly what’s happening.

Oksana Kolesnikova is a world-renowned pianist, composer and teacher. Native to Russia, Oksana has been playing piano since the age of five. She’s performed for hundreds of celebrities including: Elton John, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Barbra Streisand and Tom Cruise. She has seven albums and one of them won album of the year through the number one piano station in the world, Solo Piano Radio. Her latest albums’ proceeds will be donated to a charity she is active in, Smile Train, which helps children with cleft lip and palate disorders. Currently, she’s performing seven days a week in Beverly Hills. She and her husband started the school two years ago, and have enjoyed watching it grow.

Oksana School of Music is open to all ages and levels with lessons running from one to two hours. They teach three types of clients: children, adults who always wanted to learn and retirees who want to stay active. All kinds of styles from Lady Gaga to the Beatles, pop, rock, jazz — anything you can and want to learn.

“This is a real fun environment; the students joke around and feel inspired and motivated,” Oksana said. “Classes offer a positive learning environment where every student feels special, cared for and successful.”

What makes the school so unique is that not only will they hold classes in studio; they’ll come to your home as well as hold sessions online through Skype.

“Oksana’s very caring of her students, and she’s not just teaching; she’s giving us life lessons — enriching our lives. It’s—” Ariel Fournier pauses with a big smile, “magical,” the 16 year old student said. “It’s not just about playing notes; it’s also about playing music and putting emotion into it.”

Two types of programs are offered. One, a tailor-made program for individuals, is designed for the achievement of every student’s goals. The second is an academic curriculum.

So, if you’re a beginner, or looking to get back into music, check out Oksana School of Music. Special discounts are being offered including upon registration students receive one free class. Oksana explained to me how everyone should play an instrument. To her it’s therapeutic. Now, let’s leave those therapists alone and let the self-healing begin. One note at a time!
