Rockers Come Together – A Song for the Children of St. Jude
An all-star band of rockers from across the history of rock n roll will gather together to record, “If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World),” donating their time and creative hearts to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Legendary lead guitarist and songwriter, Dick Wagner, “The Maestro of Rock,” (Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Lou Reed, and more) was inspired by the large gathering of rockers appearing at the Rock n Roll Autograph Show in Los Angeles, Sept. 13-15. Proceeds from downloads of the song will benefit St. Jude.
Wagner tells us, “There is more love in the human heart than can ever be given away. This song is about giving a small part of that endless supply in your heart.
“When I was asked to write a song to benefit the St Jude’s children, I thought about what a song can mean in the context of our inner lives, the part that is willing to give, to help others in a time of need. ‘If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World)’ reflects the notion that we can do something positive to help change lives. The children are the purpose of this song, and everyone who participates in this recording gives a little of themselves. By downloading this song, we can all make a difference – one download at a time. We can literally change the world for a child.”
Donating their time to record the song for St. Jude are celebrity musicians Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad), Lee Sklar (James Taylor), Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Trini Lopez (Lemon Tree), Elliot Easton (The Cars), Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge), Merilee Rush (Angel of the Morning), Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson), Jean Beauvoir (The Plasmatics), Jim Dandy (Black Oak Arkansas), Brad Durden (Artimus Pyle), The Angels (“My Boyfriend’s Back”), Dick and Dee Dee (Mountain High), Chris Sanders (Knight Fury), Ray Colcord (Lou Reed), Billy Hinsche (Beach Boys), Black Oak Arkansas, Raymond Calhoun (Gap Band), the Artimus Pyle Band, and more still signing on. Donating recording studio time is Swing House Studios in Hollywood; and donating his engineering talents is Warren Huart (Aerosmith).
Producer Wagner adds, “It’s a great honor for me to work with such diversified and talented people, toward helping the children at St. Jude. So we all come together, and in the words of Quincy Jones at the ‘We Are the World’ sessions, we will leave our ‘egos at the door.’”
“If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World)” will be released for download worldwide on Nov. 1, 2013. Buy it on iTunes, Amazon.com, cdbaby.com, and on digital download sites around the world.
