Scouts Host the Opening of Memorial Day Weekend with Flag Laying at Valhalla Pierce Brothers in Burbank-North Hollywood
Running true to form in a series of more than 14 years of successful programs at Pierce Brothers Valhalla in North Hollywood (10621 Victory Blvd.), Boy Scout Venture Crew and Troop 201 of Burbank will play host to the Memorial Day weekend celebrations with the placing of hundreds of American Flags on every Veteran’s Grave, commencing at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 24.
A spectacular sight to watch, these flags are erected by Scouts and Community Members, which brings forth a sea of waving color as they change the tapestry behind the Veterans Memorial while the air is laced with a vocal rendition of our National Anthem, performed by Miss Darby Walker.
Members of the Burbank City Council, Gary Bric, newly elected Councilman Bob Frutos, and Vice-Mayor Dr. David Gordon will usher forth words of greeting.
Boy Scouts from Troop 201 of Burbank will perform a flag retirement, in tribute to our fellow Veterans.
The “Brief” ceremony, to kick off your Memorial Day weekend, is promised to make your day and be proud to be an American in celebration of this impending holiday. The Scouts will also perform as the Color Guard at the Memorial Day Ceremony at Valhalla on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, commencing at 10 a.m. At the Monday Ceremony, a free luncheon will be served. The public is invited to attend either or both celebrations, and participate with the placing of flags.
“We will NEVER Forget.”
