The Bergman Touch: Gifting for Pre-Oscars
When you go to a Doris Bergman event, expect the unexpected. You know that there will be fun involved.
William Shatner always arrives at the start and was there along with wife, Elizabeth, who is more interested in these gatherings than her talented hubby. But so were Lou Ferrigno and Kevin Farley
Shatner is everywhere. We saw he and Elizabeth recently sitting outside an Italian restaurant in a Studio City strip mall.
This was Berman’s 6th Oscar bash; although it was her second party at Fig and Olive in West Hollywood. It was so actor-friendly, that even Lou Gossett, Jr. drove himself from Malibu.
When you enter the private party, on the right was Jennifer Gerard, of Whitening Lightning, a presenter for this bash. Jenn’s dabbling with a new makeup line, Gerard Cosmetics. At the last event, she was wearing a BB crème she developed and promised to bring her new product next time. She did not disappoint. From the black and gold packaging to the beautiful glow, Jenn has a winner.
On the other side were party hosts Begley’s & Bill’s 100% All Natural Sodas in conjunction with Natures Flavours, a party presenter. Yes, that Ed Begley. We just saw him crossing the street at Laurel and Ventura. Rachelle Carson, his wife represented him. We had a few samplings. Wowee!
Eva LaRue made an early appearance since the announcement of her impending divorce. Both she and Bergman are gourmands. She thought a friendly lunch out with friends (and some gifties) would be uplifting.
I personally enjoyed seeing María Conchita Alonso’s outfit. We both wore Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses (different designs) with our own flair – she with a hat and me with cowboy boots.
In attendance: Cheech and Chong, Kate Flannery, Chelsie Hightower, Patrick Gallagher, Dot-Marie Jones with new bride Bridgett, Obba Babbatunde, Peter Parros, Illeana Douglas. Christine DeVine represented Wednesday’s Child, the event charity.
And then there was Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance. The actress fell in love with a Queen Elizabeth vintage lace cuff by Silvana K. The lace was purchased in Italy and dipped in recycled bronze, as well as a Key of the Nile cuff from Egypt. She raved about a Twisted Silver copper statement necklace with crystals, hearts and charms on chain links, gifted by Deborah Mitchell. She also loved the My Saint My Hero Bracelet. Like a good hubby, Courtney held the bags.
Meagan Tandy wore a prototype necklace with butterfly wings on fire by Kendra Bridelle, not yet available to consumers. Meagan thought Kendra’s security guard was her beau and Instagrammed photos.
Handmade Hearts by Hillel set the tone, as it was a love fest for all. GUESS watches made a big hit, especially their newest signature navy blue rubber with pink gold. Baron Hats demonstrated how to make Panama hats. Popular stands: PK’s Chocolates, Single Dress, Timmy Woods, Monatelier, and Perch.
Twilight’s Charlie Bewley was almost 86ed, as Bergman did not recognize the young chap. They laughed about it later.
Sue Facter writes about the luxury brand. Her work appears in USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and Women’s Day Australia, as well as on broadcasts and the web.
