Travel Tips 4 U: The Beautiful Northwest Coastline
By Lynne Tucker
There is so much to see in the USA. We live in a wonderful country with many travel options. The northern West Coast of California and parts of Oregon are simply amazing.
For anyone who enjoys road trips or wants to experience some really beautiful places here are a few suggestions.
The Yaquina Head Lighthouse extends out from the Oregon coast, one mile into the Pacific Ocean. Standing 93 feet tall, it is the largest lighthouse in Oregon. The lighthouse was first lit on Aug. 20, 1873 and has a spectacular view.
Enjoy the Oregon Sand Dunes in Coos Bay where you drive through miles of sand dunes. It is a great spot for dune buggy tours and watching the sunset.
The Benbow Historic Inn located in Garberville, Calif., in the Redwoods, is a charming inn and wonderful place to stay. It opened to the public in July of 1926. The grounds are lovely and their acclaimed restaurant has an award-winning wine cellar. Complimentary English tea and scones are served daily at 3 p.m. They offer complimentary Wi-Fi and parking.
While venturing around the redwoods take the hike to the Boy Scout Trail located in Humboldt, Calif. It is 2.8 miles each way and leads you to a waterfall and the home of the famous Boy Scout Tree, “arguably the tallest redwood tree.” It is actually two trees fused together. The trail is part of the larger complex of Redwood National Parks, which span from Del Norte and Humboldt counties and includes 44, 000 acres of old- growth redwood forest and 37 miles of pristine coastline.
Enjoy these suggestions and think travel!
