Dodgers Torrid

The Dodgers (47-47) remain torrid, snaring five of seven games this past week, but lost two of three this weekend to Colorado at Chavez Ravine, and are two and a half games behind Arizona in the National League West.

In Sunday’s 3-1 defeat, Michael Cuddyer drove in three runs with a run-scoring single in the first inning, then unloaded a two-run homer (16th) in the fifth.

Adrian Gonzalez’s hit in the fifth inning moved the Dodgers within two runs, but couldn’t make up the difference.

Saturday’s 1-0 whitewash featured Zack Greinke (8-2), who threw a two-hit, complete-game as the one-time Cy Young award winner struck out nine and walked one.

The game’s only run came in the first inning when Hanley Ramirez’s grounder scored Skip Schumaker, who led off with a double.

Despite 10 strikeouts and one walk, Clayton Kershaw (8-6), who gave up six hits, suffered the 3-0 setback on Friday as the Rockies tagged the left-hander for two of his three runs (earned) in the first frame.

Chris Capuano (3-6) found his groove in Thursday’s 6-1 triumph over Colorado as he allowed six hits and no runs with eight strikeouts in six and one-third inning.

Mark Ellis (three hits) drove in four runs, Yasiel Puig, Gonzalez, Juan Uribe and Jerry Hairston Jr., all had two hits for the Dodgers who led 4-0 after four innings.

Ramirez (three hits) and A.J. Ellis (three hits) each socked solo homers in the 14th inning as the Dodgers claimed a 7-5 decision on Wednesday at Arizona.

Ramirez drove in three runs and scored two runs, Ellis had two runs batted in with a run scored, Andre Ethier (two hits), while Mark Ellis (two hits) scored a run, and Gonzalez (two hits) tallied a run and an RBI.

Ricky Nolasco (6-8), newly-acquired from the Miami Marlins, went seven innings while surrendering four hits and one run (earned) in the Dodgers’ 6-1 drubbing on Tuesday of the Diamondbacks.

Greinke powered past Arizona with a two-hitter and no runs over seven innings in Monday’s 6-3 win, and slapped three hits, as did Ethier and Ramirez.
