CART Presents Village Wooing Starring Norman Lloyd and Samantha Eggar
The day after Valentine’s, on Saturday, Feb. 15, two great actors will give all of us a Valentine by performing in a reading of a comedy, written by George Bernard Shaw. It is Village Wooing.
Norman Lloyd and Samantha Eggar will appear in ONE performance at the Garland Hotel, on Vineland in Studio City, in the Little Theatre, with the California Artists Radio Theatre at a 1:30 admission-free Matinee. They have appeared with the CART company for the past 25 years, heard over National Public Radio and Sirius XM radio in great classics.
The two stars are most noted for film and TV, but both have origins in Theatre. Samantha Eggar, with the Royal Shakespeare and the National Theatre of Great Britain, is also a recipient of the Cannes Best Actress award, nominated for an Oscar, and the winner of a Golden Globe for The Collector directed by Wm Wyler. She is most lovingly remembered, in film, for her performance in Dr. Doolittle. She has starred with Rex Harrison, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda, Sean Connery, and many other stars in major films; she has starred in over forty CART shows with Norman Lloyd, David Warner, Roddy McDowall, John Astin, Michael York, William Shatner, Ed Asner, and many others.
Norman Lloyd, a member of Welles and Houseman’s Mercury Theatre on Broadway, is remembered for his years on TV’s St. Elsewhere, and for his many Emmy awards, but he is also known for his work with Charles Chaplin, Orson Welles, and Alfred Hitchcock in film.
He produced ten episodes of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and Hitchcock’s Hour, and the award-winning Omnibus series; and thirty other TV shows. He has directed as many. Both have worked with top directors, writers, and actors in film, all over the world. Please, RSVP at (213) 683-3422 for limited, complimentary seating for the 1:30 performance. Program will begin with English Music Hall and romantic songs sung by Richard Herd and Tom Williams, accompanied by Jay Munns.
