Love in the Air This August at SpiritWorks Center
Love Letters, A.R. Gurney’s Pulitzer nominated play, centers on written stories over the lifetime of a relationship — the ultimate love story, “not just a traditional partnership,” states Dr. Harry Morgan Moses, actor and spiritual director of SpiritWorks. On Saturday, August 20, a benefit/ fundraiser will be held, sure to be a “zen-like” evening, with “love in the air” and an aura of comfort. The play features two childhood friends and their lifelong correspondences, as their love naturally evolves. In concordance with the Center’s goal of teaching universal values to enrich people’s lives, the recital of Love Letters weaves a sentimental tapestry of emotion and spirituality.
Through an eclectic mix of creative, expressive poetry, the two member cast, Susan Clark and Harry Morgan Moses himself, the audience is sent on an intimate journey in a beautiful theatrical space, with excellent viewing from any vantage point. Susan Clark has a vast array of accomplishments and an impressive body of work, including an Emmy award for her work in Babe, and multiple Emmy nominations.
The dialogue in Love Letters paves the way for a natural, dynamic rapport onstage, as the couple discusses the last 50 years, their hopes, dreams and disappointments. As the two blissfully reunite, coming full circle, the audience is in for a treat, as they live, laugh and love from beginning to end.
Spirituality and depth of human interactions are what makes the SpiritWorks Center the special place that it is… “What the world needs now is love, sweet love.”
