L.A. County Superviser, Michael antonovich On Education

As a former educator, I know that a good education is vital for young people to become productive citizens and achieve their dreams — especially for the more than 30,000 children in county foster care. These are children who, for one reason or another, have no parents, no homes and many cannot attend school regularly due to the constant disruption in their life as they are moved from home to home.

While we have made significant progress helping improve educational outcomes for these young people, we must continue our efforts to ensure that these future leaders have the tools they need to be fully self-sufficient by the time the reach adulthood. Children are not the future, they are today. If we don’t meet their needs today, they will have no future.
