As economic distress plays out in classrooms across the country and bullying-on-the-bus expands big-time into cyberspace, teens and their parents are, more than ever before, looking for solutions to these serious, everyday challenges.
Anointed Moments tells the true tales — from tearful to triumphant — of those involved in transforming two struggling Catholic schools in urban Los Angeles into precedent setting, nationally recognized schools of distinction.
Here’s a book that will appeal to all educators, parents, and students — whatever their zip code or faith — who want to learn how to better lift themselves and others, to be more fully present, and to live richer, more rewarding lives in today’s increasingly turbulent times.
About the author: Inspired by the Benedictine Sisters, who provided a stimulating, sometimes scary, sometimes fun elementary school experience at Sacred Heart School in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, Dan Horn knew by the second grade that he wanted to become a teacher. Although his high school experience proved to be challenging at Greensburg Central Catholic, Dan went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a teaching credential and taught in both public and Catholic schools on the East Coast.
Dan has been instrumental in transforming two failing Los Angeles-area Catholic schools into national models of success. Under his leadership as principal, St. Thomas the Apostle School was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, and St. Genevieve High School has been designated a National School of Character.
Currently, Dan is President-Principal of St. Genevieve Elementary and High School in Panorama City.
