Surprising new production injects mariachi music into the proceedings
Talk about a mixed marriage! The Marriage of Figaro is traditionally set near Seville, Spain, in the 18th century. Center Stage Opera brings the action to Mexico in the late 1800s, including weaving traditional Mariachi music into Mozart’s score for a wedding scene that is not to be missed.
The farcical romp will feature some of California’s finest vocal and orchestral artists. The opera will be sung in Italian, with supertitles projected in both English and Spanish.
Center Stage Opera presents “The Marriage of Figaro” with performances Saturday, January 26 at 7:30pm and Sunday, January 27 at 3pm at Plaza del Sol Theatre at Cal State University Northridge located at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.
