‘The Mousetrap’

Who doesn’t enjoy a juicy murder mystery? This one was written with DELICIOUSLY DELIGHTFUL suspense by the famed Dame Agatha Christie, and is a winner from start to finish!

Known worldwide for her titillating “who-dunnits,” I enjoyed every moment! Guinness World Records lists her as the best-selling novelist of all time! I had never seen this one until now.

The action takes place in 1953 in a cozy rental cottage in England, called Monkswell Manor. A raging snowstorm now holds its guests captive…one of them is a murderer! It is owned by a young married couple…played with PERFECTION by Megan Cochran and Bobby Slaski. An eclectic and varied assortment of guests and possible suspects are played with astonishing EXCELLENCE.

Who doesn’t enjoy a juicy murder mystery?

Under the CAPTIVATINGLY FOCUSED DIRECTION of Sonny Lira, assisted by Reneé Cohen, each character has spotlit moments for us to ponder as the mystery unfolds.

Boasting a COMPELLING CAST all round, each with a story to tell, the audience was held captive. In a STANDOUT performance, Tavis L. Baker as Detective Trotter was EXCEPTIONAL throughout. The rest of the praiseworthy cast includes Michael Mullen, Annie Leiberman, Nicholas Cleland, Mouchette van Helsdingen and Hans Obma.

As always at Crown City Theatre, the technical efforts frame the production with mood setting MAGIC! KUDOS to Joanne Lamb for set decor, Michael Mullen for lovely costumes, Zad Potter for lighting design and Joe Shea for sound design.

This is a highly entertaining production, abundant with inspiring performances. Year after year, having seen dozens of offerings here, I can honestly say I have never been disappointed in a single Crown City production! Do get to know them!

“The Mousetrap” is playing now though Sunday, April 29 at Crown City Theatre located at 11031 Camarillo in North Hollywood. For more information visit CrownCityTheatre.com or call (818) 605-5685.

That’s my story for this time. See you at the theeatah!
