Whitefire Theatre Solofest in Sherman Oaks continues with tale of cancer survival Mon., Feb. 19

Valerie David is one strong woman. Not only does she perform her one-woman show, The Pink Hulk: One Woman’s Journey to find the Superhero Within, she’s lived it.

The Pink Hulk is David’s comic-drama about surviving cancer, twice. Her story spans the whole range of emotions in this touching, sexy and sometimes hilarious solo performance.

The Pink Hulk details David’s shock, ordeal and facing whatever adversities life threw at her by discovering her inner superhero. With humor, pathos and brutal honesty, she demonstrates that life is not for the faint of heart. But you can live it on your terms, regardless. People often avoid discussing uncomfortable realities. David believes frankly addressing them is empowering.

Two months after finishing her final radiation treatment and again being declared cancer-free, David embarked on and completed a bicycle marathon. This woman knows about survival, and embracing the struggle that it requires.

David says, “You don’t have to feel you’re alone. You can find that superhero inside yourself and overcome adversity. We each have more strength than we think. My mission is to educate, entertain, inspire, empower and motivate.”

David’s performances and talkbacks throughout the country have led to speaking engagements at hospitals, universities, conferences and festivals. Her award-winning show and patient advocacy inspire those struggling with adversity and the professionals who work with them.

“In times like these, people need stories of hope and inspiration more than ever,” David says.
