“Hello” is a Welcomed and Fresh Greeting at the Stella Adler

0

Hello is a unique and clever script that covers the usual boy meet girl story, but in an unusual way. Clark is a socially awkward statistician. Alice is a quirky writer of children’s’ books. Only in her case with titles like Mommy and Daddy Lie All the Time, her books hardly get the approval of “Parents” magazine.

Stefan Marks writes, directs and stars in his production as Clark along with the delightful Beth Patrik as Alice.

Marks manages to pen a remarkably fresh look that is smartly written with a vastly different perspective on what brings two people together and their struggle to find love. He has taken on the usual and made it unusual. There are delightful dialogue twists and moments to ponder as well. He brings forth a dark comedy that allows the main characters to examine and face the apparent inevitability of a future without each other. He and Patrik quirkily pull it off on the stage.

Marks has made his mark with unique scripts that have been well received such as Baseball, Sitcom the Play, The Good Year and several others making the recommended and pick list.

Hello runs through October 30 and stages Fridays and Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Stella Adler Theatre, 6773 Hollywood Blvd. in Hollywood. For reservations, call (888) 210-0183. Tickets are $15. The Adler offers four hours validation for $2 parking at the Hollywood and Highland Center. The theatre is one block from the Red Line stop.
