Doris Bergman’s Pre-Emmy Style Lounge 2013
Doris Bergman has a new venue for her awards’ events. She took over Melrose Place’s Fig and Olive with the first unofficial pre-Emmy event with celebs, stylists, and media in attendance. Presented by Whitening Lightning and Nature’s Flavors, the suite gifted the stars with all things fun and beautiful.
“This is how I handle my dad when I want him to be my plus one,” said Katie Wagner, referring to the still drop-dead gorgeous Robert Wagner. “I tell him very little. I say we are going some place fabulous and just to get in the car!”
Haberdasher Art Lewin (Bespoke Executive Clothiers) was challenged to design something as fashionable as his stunning duds. He offered to make a suit worth $4,500 for the actor. “Let’s do it,” said Wagner.
Glee’s Dot-Marie Jones (nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress) walked with a cane. “I just had a knee replaced five weeks ago. They were going to write the cane into the show, but because I knew I just had a few steps, I would be OK.”
In attendance: Dancing with the Stars pros Sharna Burgess, Gleb Savchenko, and Chelsie Hightower, Dan Bucatinsky, Illeana Douglas, Sophia Milos, Mary Murphy, Kate Flannery, RJ Mitte, Rich Sommer, Chase Masterson, Nicholas Guest, Joelle Carter, and Ian Patrick.
The suite was sponsored by the charity Wednesday’s Child, a weekly TV segment on KTTV Fox 11 News, hosted by Christine Devine, in attendance. The charity places older kids in foster homes.
VIPs were happy to see brightly colored Telic Footwear (sandals) in gift bags, as they have proven to magically heal those tired feet during exhausting times. We were wondering why Gen Gerard (Whitening Lightning) was glowing more than usual. She reached into her purse to show us a new BB crème she was wearing. It’s still in development for her line.
Twisted Silver, always a favorite at awards season, had not one, but two tables with Deborah Mitchell’s new line, Perch Jewelry (with Bea Woodwell). Marisa Marshall flew in from Florida and brought inspirational bracelets from My Saint, My Hero. They normally sell to destination spas.
Other vendors included: RunSafety.com, PK’s Chocolates, Art By Dano, Deborah Lindquist Designs, Roadkill Ranch, Slash Salon, Purple Girl Clothing, Dulcenea, Classy Sachet, Nitrocream, LLC, La Curcio Skin Care Collection, Radar Watches, Begley’s & Bill’s Natural Soda, Bon Bon Home, Honest Tea, Single Dress, Tequila Azul Imperial, Veved Ice Vodka, Cattiva Cosmetics, KIND Snacks, Clif Bar, and Luna Bar.
Dylan Neal, who plays Andie McDowell’s love interest on Hallmark Channel’s Cedar Cove, just wrapped their first season last month. “Vancouver has become my second home. I fly back to L.A. to see my wife (screenwriter Becky Southwell) and kids every other weekend and they come up when they can. I brought the family dog, so it’s a little easier on my wife with the daily walks.” He adds, “With Skype and Facetime, you do get to see them every day!”
The actor felt connected to the cause. “My mother ran a foster home when I was growing up. Foster care, and in this case, adoption gives kids a real chance in life.”
