The Fairest of Them All: The Nine O’Clock Players Present Snow White
By Natasha Lewin
The first show of the award-winning Nine O’Clock Players season brings a musical retelling of Snow White. Lyricist and composer Carol Weiss’ twist on the classic fairy tale is brought to life with elaborate set designs, detailed costuming, and interactive verse that keeps both children and adults mesmerized throughout the play.
Not only do the Nine O’Clock Players encourage children of all ages to help with the story and clap along with the songs, but after the show kids can meet their favorite characters of Snow White in the courtyard and get their personal Playbills signed by the cast.
Celebrating their 83rd season, The Nine O’Clock Players is one of the oldest theaters for children in the country. Through the Assistance League and generous patrons and volunteers, NOP productions also provide bus transportation and free admission to economically and physically challenged children to have the rewarding experience of live theater.
Snow White hosts a bevy of talent — from Judy Claverie as Sir Pompous to Christina Doren as the Queen — the Nine O’Clock Players is an all-female cast that keeps the little ones laughing in Carol Weiss’ version that’s fun for the whole family.
Snow White runs through Sunday, Nov. 24, at the Assistance League Theatre located at 1367 N. St. Andrews Pl. in Hollywood. Performances are Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are $12; special group rates and birthday parties available. For tickets, call or go to nineoclockplayers.com.
